talyenLast night, I made two pies: apple, and peach-raspberry. The raspberries and peaches made a lot of juice, and I think I didn't use enough flour to make the stuff inside gel together well, so that pie took a while to crisp the crust. The apple looks great. Hopefully, I'll try them today. They look really great, and I thought about donating them to the dessert walk for charity today at the department picnic. But I am greedy, and I want to taste them myself. I've never made peach-raspberry pie, although this is my third-ever apple pie, so if I weren't so greedy . . .
But I am.
Now I have used up or frozen all the new food in the house, I've dusted, vacuumed, washed the carpets, laundered clothing, and cleaned half of the bathroom and most of the kitchen. Good time to go camping, now that my house is liveable.
I am really looking forward to going up north. I love autumn, I love trees turning colors, and I love the sharp breezes and interesting scents fall brings. It will be fun and new (everything with her is still new!) to camp and hike and hang out with Catherine for the weekend. I hope I can remember everything one needs to bring when car-camping and day-hiking!
