6 or 7 weeks later
Jul. 6th, 2006 08:57 pmI'm more and more "me" here. I'm integrating my old life into this new one. This week, I've started running daily. I'm not exactly running 2 miles each day, but nearly, and my times are progressing. I get to train on hills, since I have to drive at least 10 miles to get to a flat area, so I don't bother.
I'm starting to cook more. L just went a week eating vegetarian, some of it my cooking. When I cook weird foods, she tries them, and that's great. She tried a quinoa stew, and a quinoa and bean salad. I'm going to make her a surprise treat tomorrow that's more normal and still good, healthy food.
We've been trying to integrate food I can eat (wheat free vegetarian) with food she likes (pasta, american), and so we've been eating out at mexican, chinese, thai, and mediterranean places, mixed with trying new foods at home. I'm trying to cook more to save money and reduce our fat intake, so we're slowing adding in more cooking and reducing our eating out. It feels good. I'm getting more energy back.
KitKit is still himself. His arthritis hurts, and the cosequin isn't helping yet. I'm going to go with the heavier-duty drugs I think, just because I don't like seeing him in pain. He's in pain even with the Valium for anti-stress, and that's not good. He's only been on the cosequin for a week, and I know it takes a while to kick in.
I've found that I love being warm. It was only 80 degrees yesterday and today, and I was a bit chilly as I started out my run. Kinda sick, eh? On the 90 degree days, I hate being cooped up away from the sun and the heat. I go out in the yard and make up things to do: "I'll get the branches out of the treehouse, okay, honey?" Or I just lay in the sun and soak up the heat.
It's so much sunnier here than Ann Arbor. The sky is clear more often, there are hardly days with clouds in the sky. And despite what anyone says, it's not that humid here. I'm starting to grow out my hair, and it's quite manageable. In Michigan, the curls were much more frizzy at this length. I guess that's how I measure the weather!

off-topic: visit?
Date: 2006-07-07 01:11 am (UTC)Would you have room for me to come down to Cinci and visit, staying at your place for Friday July 14th and Saturday July 15th? I'll be in Grand Rapids, MI the weak before, and need to end up in Warren the week after -- but would like to visit you in Cinci along the way, if you're up for it. I'm not looking for full-time hostessing, though, you don't need to entertain me, though having a meal together would be nice.
