Good things
Jun. 29th, 2006 10:47 pmI still love my job. I decided today that it's because my odd personality type (it's "yellow," which is rare) is considered an asset in some cases, and something to be added to the "salad" in others. I like feeling like my contributions are valuable, and knowing that my best talents are the ones that are desired most.
I am still learning my job, of course. It consists of information gathering and dispersal. I don't feel like I do any "work," because my job is juggling. I don't hold anything: my job is to keep everything spinning in the air, and to understand how big everything is and how much mass everything has and what color each piece is, and to be able to pass one piece at a time (or sometimes two in succession) to my individual team members, so that they can do the work each piece represents.
And then I sometimes catch the finished pieces back again, to pass them on to other teams.
I really like that part. The other people I'm working with are getting used to giving me information and that means my people can get used to doing their work and and trusting that I'll hand them pieces that are ready to do and completely described.
I have a ton to learn, and some days (like today), my head literally spins with new knowledge, but I really like what I do.
I hope you're having fun where you are.

Date: 2006-07-04 02:52 pm (UTC)I'm going to be in Grand Rapids MI for work through Thursday July 13, then I need to be in Warren MI for July 17th. In between, I'd like to visit Cincinnati, and was wondering if that might work for you, and if I could stay at your place. I would likely want to stay over two nights, Friday July 14th & Saturday Juyly 15th if that would work for you.
