All over Cinci
May. 28th, 2006 09:02 amI have been all over nearby Cincinnati. I have found:
2 credit unions that take deposits with my MSU credit union card
2 hardware stores (independently owned)
Coffee shop with vegan specialties near one of the hardware stores (has a vegan version of Cincinnati chili!)
2 Bed, Bath and Beyond
Target, Best Buy, Meijers, Staples
and within walking distance:
library, post office, IGA
Small cinema that doubles as the art cinema
4 Indian restaurants (two very good)
Thai restaurant (haven't tried it yet)
Meditteranean restaurant (good!)
Chinese restaurant (haven't tried it yet)
Mexican restaurant (very good)
Italian restaurant (haven't tried it yet, but by the prices it better be good)
Gourmet pizza (very good)
Skyline Chili (never going)
I've also found the nearest Kroger, the only thing close to a food co-op (Clifton Natural Foods, about a mile and a half away), and I've been to the farmer's market and the IGA twice.
I've also been to Lisa's last dart game, and to one of her softball games, all on the same night, neither of which were in Cincinnati. I'm becoming a snob - I prefer to be in the city where everything is happening. There are lots of vegetarians, vegans, and tolerance for diversity here. Heck, my neighbor across the street has rainbow people tatooed on her ankle, and she's gotta be over 50 with three kids and a husband.
I think I might grow to like it here. For now, at least I'm happy here, with my vegan next-door neighbor and everything else that's nice nearby.
