Bike Trip, etc
Sep. 19th, 2005 08:13 pmI just read three days of LJ from my friends. I haven't friended many people, and it's a good thing, considering.
The Stilyagi Bike Trip this fall was great! We decided on a change in route to enable other Stilyagi-ites to join us, either by driving to the destination or by catching up with us en route. Our route was from
hotwire7's business up Maple to Huron River Dr, which hooked us to the common route bicyclists take to Dexter and to Chelsea.
The ride was really nice. The first five miles had some drizzle/mist, and the weather got better and better as we rode. The leisurely pace allowed us time at the Dexter Cider Mill, and Zou Zou's cafe in Chelsea, where we ate a late lunch/snack/partial dinner.
We left Chelsea and rode the more hilly section between there and Waterloo State Park. The park was nice, the water was ice, and we all were happy to be there. Brats, veggie dogs, and s'mores completed the evening for most of us.
We were joined en route by the lovely S, and RC made the drive up later in the evening. We goofed off, relaxed, and had a great time.
The ride back was a little rough for me - I think I need to lower my seat just a tad. I rode 62 miles (I took a 2-mile side trip at one point) and ran 11 miles this weekend. Only about 20 miles on the bike were at my normal pace, so the running was good for me.
I hope the next ride will have more attendees. We had a lot of fun!
