More about tv
Sep. 11th, 2005 08:02 pmEveryone's comments were very cool about what I should do for watching hockey. The answer for me all comes down to what I want to live with, and how much I'm willing to give up.
See, I used to watch hockey in my house as a way of relaxing. I'd often fall asleep to it. And with about 4 games each week, that's a lot of relaxing and watching hockey. I love hearing the tidbits that the announcers throw in about the players, and the team's history. I love to watch the fast play.
There probably are some other lesbians who like to watch men's pro hockey, who have cable and would want to open up their houses. And there probably is at least one sports' bar which plays the game on the television. Between the two, I could be out each night watching hockey.
But is that worth it to me? Is it worth not buying cable ($40/month), but missing games on days when I just don't want to leave the house? Would I spend $40/month in soda while watching the games at a bar?
Basically, the $40/month for cable buys me the independence to watch games, or not, whenever I wish. It would be much cheaper to watch only when others are also watching them (at the bar, or at someone's house), and also cheaper if I was willing to miss more than a couple games.
I'm feeling independent (always!), but I'm feeling the cost of that, too. And don't get me started about only having internet in the kitchen and dining room, since I'm borrowing from someone else!
