L says I am addicted to running, since going without running brings me pain.
nubianamy concurs.
And it appears that stopping running, biking, etc, even for a day, can bring on a migraine.
I have to say, I don't feel addicted, brain chemistry to the contrary. I would like to think that not getting enough sleep because I am addicted to talking with a certain woman contributed far more toward a migraine than not running for a day. Although I have to admit that I got another one Wednesday, and I didn't run that day, either.
I do believe that running, etc, are keeping the migraines away. I feel like there's one trying to come on again, and I plan to be quite proactive about it now that L is gone. Tonight is a brick with the Tri club, and I'm going for two loops of running after the ride. I really believe it will keep me from getting a headache.
I just don't believe that my body is/I am addicted to exercise.

Date: 2005-09-01 08:39 pm (UTC)I am an addict.
I am addicted to air. I am addicted to food. I am addicted to many things.... Heck, I'll even admit that I'm addicted to love and sex. Is wanting it regularly such a bad thing?
Reasonable exercise is good for you, and your body sends you that message, if you can hear it. Some other things are bad for you, and your body sends you that message. perhaps migraine sufferers hear those messages louder than most. if only they can decode them.
Of course our bodies are not always smart and can send us messages that cause us to (for instance) over eat. "Eating is good" is a critically important message but it can be mis-applied. I suppose that drinking too much, over exercising, etc are similar.
I realize that this whole rant is not needed at all.
You are a wise, reasonable, rational human being. Given any chance at all you can take very good care of yourself.
