Detroit last night, staying home today

talyenI have a migraine, the first one in the two and a half months I've been off the anti-seizure drug that keeps them away. I have to say that all the working out has a great side effect, in this case.
So I have a migraine because I've been staying up extra-late talking with L on the phone. In fact, I stayed up almost all night two nights ago, and had only two hours' sleep before I went to work yesterday. I wasn't able to run or nap when I got home from work, because friends were getting together to see L, and that contributed: I think that if I'd run, I wouldn't have gotten a migraine.
Anyway, I'm at home now, just got up after several rounds of drugs. Yay for drugs when I'm not pregnant.
But last night was fun. Four of us met L downtown in Detroit, and walked around. We went to Greektown and had terrible food (IMO only, I'm sure). We went to the bakery and had yummies, and that part was good. I dripped honey down my leg, and stopped all conversation when I mentioned it. Very fun.
We walked over to the Hard Rock and spent some time at the nearby fountain. It was fun to be able to wander around Detroit's downtown in the dark, seeing the sights. There were lots of people who can only do this, of course, because they have no place else to go, but for us, it was pretty. Jess climbed a statue, and a security guard came out of no where before she'd gotten very far up at all, so she had to climb down.
Hart Plaza was neat, too. I know most of the renovation of downtown is new. I am glad that the city is trying to make things nice, and I am glad we got to see the efforts being made. Some of the old buildings we saw on the way downtown were simply amazing, and it's scary to think how much was lost as the city ate itself up in previous decades. I hope that all the work toward revitalization can make a difference somehow.
In the end, we dropped L off at her hotel and went home. I got to spend lots of time with all four women, and got to hold L's hand as we walked along sometime. The contact between all five of us was satisfying. I'll be glad to have L alone tonight, though. (:
