Too much Barenaked Ladies
Mar. 20th, 2010 08:25 pmFirst, I'd make sure my aunt and uncle's house was paid off. That way, they wouldn't have an extra worry on top of whether my uncle had to work or not after he takes care of a medical problem. They'd still need health insurance, but I can't fix that with money.
Next, I'd make sure my brother could take care of any issues he has with his house. And I'd pay off the rest of mine. Seems like having a paid-off house in good repair feels good.
I'd still have so much money left! I could do any of these things:
- start a scholarship fund for foster kids that aren't adopted before they age out of the system
- endow season tickets at the baseball stadium for a couple foster kids and their parents
- start a fund to teach parenting skills to teen moms in at-risk area non-profit community ed or churches, and include day care for those who have already given birth
- fund innovative or grass-roots community organizations combining proven methods with new ideas to change outcomes for children or families
Gosh, that's what I thought of off the top of my head, based on what I care about right now. Do you ever listen to Barenaked Ladies too much?
