Maybe I have a shot at the house I want, after all. Negotiations have restarted. The market being what it is, my offer is probably 'way too high now that it's been two weeks. I can still get an apartment, but I would like this house if it's possible.

Also, I am now on crutches. What is it about this dang town?

You might want to wait a month on the offer. Really.

The economy is totally going in the shitter, and that affects real estate prices. Why buy a house for $300,000 right now when you can buy the same house for $240,000 in a month?

No, I don't know what's going to happen in a months time. But I do know that within six months my house dropped DRAMATICALLY in value. That's affecting the price I'd be able to sell it for if I had to sell. For now I'll rent it out.

But either way, good luck!

The owner is in fantasy-land, and has decided to list the house on the market. So I'm waiting. Once it's on the market, (and if I haven't found something else I like better), I'm guessing she won't be listing it for what she thinks it's worth. Which will be good for me at this point, since we're still $15K - $20K apart.

I know the market has dropped and that waiting is better, even in the most stable neighborhoods. But *she* doesn't appear to know that. And I've actually got a loan, even today. She has no idea how lucky she would be to sell it for what I'm offering today. I'd love to offer less in 3 months.

ETA: I just wish I didn't have to wait for three months. I'm tired of not having a house.
