How do you call up your ex-girlfriend?

talyenNot that I want to call her, exactly. I mean, I still don't feel like we have anything in common, other than hockey. (Hello, Gary Bettman? When will the boys start playing??) It's just that I sometimes wonder how she's doing.
How do I find that out? Do I just call her, out of the blue, not having even spoken to her in 10 months, and not nicely that last time? I could email, I suppose. I've also thought of asking a mutual friend how she (the friend) would feel about telling me how my ex-girlfriend is doing. I want to hear that she is fine; better than fine, even that she is doing great. I would love to hear that she is dating someone wonderful, or has a better job, or anything really good. i am hoping that she is doing well. If there are bad things, I don't suppose I should know. I mean, we're not close, and we never were, even when we were together.
I guess I'd like to know if my hopes about how well she is doing in all things are being upheld in reality.

Date: 2004-10-22 09:52 am (UTC)I recommend web-stalking as much as possible, because that way you're the only one who knows. Alternately, you could ask a friend who will absolutely NOT reveal that you've been asking about the ex.
I'm just afraid that if she knows you're asking about her, things could get very uncomfortable very quickly.

Date: 2004-10-22 09:57 am (UTC)Unfortunately, she has no web presence whatsoever. She barely does email, has no web page, and works behind a large firewall for a super-huge ISP. Other than actual stalking, I don't know how to find anything out about her than asking the one person I know we know in common.
Hmmm. Maybe it's not worth it.
