I really do identify with Buffy. I've (re-)watched Seasons 2, 3, 4, and half of 5 in the past couple weeks. Something about the emotions and violence has helped me let go of work and other crazy stuff (a little).

There's something about her needing to take care of everything at all costs, putting yourself out there and getting beaten up, pushing people away when you love them more than life, finding a soul mate and killing them to save the world, that resonates with me.

When the show was on and for a couple years afterwards, I would have dreams where I was Buffy, saving the world. It was very tiring, painful, and messy, and I missed having a normal life.

Unlike Buffy, in addition to Angel and Spike, I am hot for Oz and Willow. Never, ever Riley.

Did you find yourself watching the story of yourself in one of the Buffy characters? Which one, and in what way?

I, too, hate Riley - he's all kinds of ewww. If you haven't already seen this, it may make you laugh.

Also, because I'm a total geek, did you see the buffy/angel/spike threesome scene in the new season 8 comics? Not my bag but if you like them all you'll probably enjoy it.

As for seeing myself in one of the characters, I think it really depends on the season and the situation. With my family, I'm the "take charge" buffy who has to take care of everyone and make sure they're all ok. When I'm just myself I think I relate most to Willow and Tara in certain ways and I find that is the primary reason for obsession with BTVS. In a lot of ways I wish I was more like them...

Okay, I will, i *will* order the Buffy Season 8 comix from the shop in Ann Arbor. I haven't even looked for them here. I've thought about it lots. I just didn't want to get hooked on something, but ... that's like trying not to get hooked on cars, or air.

Video was awesome, and no, I hadn't seen it, so thank you!

So much of my self and my life are like Buffy's. If anything, I wish sometimes I were less responsible, easier to date, whatever ... but then I wouldn't be me, and I go back to my high-pressure, weirdo life.

you must! it's absolutely worth it! BTW - the first trade is out so you don't have to buy single issues and I beleive a second trade will be out within the next few months.
Happy reading!

You know, when I walk to work, I am actually walking to the shuttle stop which just happens to be at the comic book store. After work next week, I am going to lose some money there, I just know it.
